FitH Friday at 6:30 for IF - East Timor
Thank you to everyone who's made the last three years of Food in the Hood so rewarding! I have FINALLY caught up on sending all donation checks. To make up for being such a laggard, I rounded up the check to The Friendship Office of the Americas to make it an even $1000. With Sergio Castro (El Andalon) and the Voices of Angels in Nigeria, that makes them our third One Grand grant.
Speaking of the Friendship Office, our Girl Up hostesses watched a recent documentary on Honduras by Al Jazeera,
followed by a panel discussion that included Annie Bird of Rights Action and our own Dana Franks.
They said it was informative and heart-breaking, but they were glad to know about it.
The other checks I sent were to Grassroots International for the West Bank Seed Bank. I rounded up these donations to $400 and included one of the Living Seed Collections we sold to raise donations.
This Friday at 6:30 we'll be raising funds for IF, our Lake Freedom friends, although with so many good causes they're sponsoring, I just can't choose. There's the September 29th Peru dinner at IF, which supports their communal kitchens.
There's an inspiring couple moving to East Timor with their young children, to continue their work in human rights and science!
And there's Pietro Ameglio and the Caravan for Peace with Justice and Dignity. Here you can see the interview our neighbor David Sweet did of him and the excellent videos of his talks by the directors of El Andalon.
The only solution is to start with East Timor and continue doing dinners for IF throughout the fall. Subscribe to their beautiful and inspiring newsletter and see for yourself how lucky we are to be living in reach of these multi-generational miracle makers.
And I can hand-deliver the checks, so I won't get behind again!
